Want To Find Out More About Yourself? Try Answering These Questions

Last week, I mentioned that I would be taking a break for a couple of weeks, but I would be scheduling some posts sharing some self-reflection questions.

Before I had written these posts, I went on my morning walk and started listening to The Diary of a CEO podcast.

I’ve mentioned this podcast many times before as I find Steven Bartlett, interesting and he always asks great, insightful questions of his guests.

This particular episode, aired at the end of May 2021, was with Johann Hari, author of Lost Connections, a book that gave me the courage and determination to finally deal with my mental health.

The episode’s content was amazing and led me to self-reflect some more. I had so many aha moments that it is only right that I share it with you as part of my self-reflection posts.

For my daily self-reflection, there are 10 questions, which I write down along with my answer each morning. I will be sharing these questions with you over the next few weeks so you can give it a go yourself.

1. What am I happy about?

What is happening in your life right now that brings you joy? If you want to go into more detail, you can also think about why it makes you happy and how it makes you feel.

2. What am I grateful for?

Practising gratitude is something I’ve done on and off for a few years now and it definitely makes a difference. When you think about the things you are grateful for, remind yourself why you are grateful for them and how that makes you feel.

3. Who do I love?

I never understood this one at first, I didn’t understand why I was being asked this, but once I started doing it and detailing how it made me feel, it did start to make me feel better about my relationships. It took me a while to realise that I was missing out on loving myself and just writing my own name down under this question, even though it can feel a bit weird, reminds me that I am worthy of being loved, sometimes we need reminding.

These may seem like simple questions, and you may wonder how they can possibly make a difference in your day. However, they can. It is always good to remind ourselves of the good things we have in our lives, no matter how small, and to pat ourselves on the back daily.

It might seem a bit weird or woo-woo at first, but it can get your day off to a positive start.

Let me know if you tried answering these and I’ll share some more self-reflection questions with you next week.
