Happy Birthday to This Is Still Me

Today is This Is Still Me’s 6th birthday.

I remember starting this blog at work in January 2017. I was bored as we had a lull in work and I didn’t have much to do, so I set up a WordPress page and typed away, hesitantly pressing publish, even though I didn’t have a single follower.

I went on to tell only a handful of people about my new blog and I was petrified that people would laugh at me. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

For the first 3 years, most of my posts were written during quiet periods at work, or on my commute. Snatched moments, to write down some of my innermost thoughts, with the main goal being to help anyone who was struggling with the same things as I had.

Now, I write most days, carving time out of my day to do so, constantly jotting down ideas and making notes as I go through each day. Today, as well as sending out my Substack newsletter, I publish on WordPress, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Medium, Pinterest and even Tik Tok!

I write with much more confidence and whilst I may not have thousands of followers, my little crew is more than enough for me. My main priority is to always write from the heart and be as open and honest as possible.

Those of you who have read my blog posts from the beginning will have seen how I discovered I had anxiety, my first attempt at therapy and my ongoing battles with dieting and alcohol.

It’s amazing how much things can change over the years. There have been divorces, marriages, mental health struggles, a pandemic, life changes and of course, career changes.

I love that you have been on this long journey with me and I am excited to continue sharing it with you, the ups, the downs, the good and the bad. It’s life, real life. You’ll find no filters here.

So I’m raising a toast to 6 years of this blog page and you, my lovely readers.
