My weekend at Stapleford Park

Elegance & tranquility

I couldn’t think of two better words to describe my weekend at Stapleford Park.

My friend and I had originally booked a different hotel, but when we realised that they only had one restaurant and no bar, we decided to have a rethink. On our new search, we stumbled across this beautiful country estate near Melton Mowbray and quickly decided that this was the place for us.

We booked ourselves in for the rejuvenating spa package. This included an overnight stay, dinner, breakfast, afternoon tea and a one hour spa treatment per person, all for £450 for 2 people, we wanted to go away for two nights, so we added another nights stay.

The website, although it displays beautiful images of the hotel and grounds, could not possibly do it justice.

We drove through the grand entrance and along a narrow drive lined on both sides with woodland, you then drive through an archway in the building and are led around an impeccably manicured lawn, to the magnificent main house and reception.

We unpacked our (many) bags from the car and opened the huge door to reception, entering beautifully decorated and very grand room, to the left, was a lounge room, with rocking horse peeking around the door.

To the right are the reception desks, the decor is in keeping with the elegance of the building. Even though we were slightly early, our room was ready and we we were led up a magnificent staircase to our room.

There are many, many rooms in the house and we were worried that we would get lost trying to find our way around. We entered our beautiful, spacious room, which was on the top floor, with stunning views of the grounds. We unpacked and decided to head to Library Room for some refreshments.

We were greeted by a lovely lady at the bar who we enjoyed chatting to whilst ordering our drinks, I really wish I had got her name as she was fantastic. We sat in the Library room, enjoying a couple of glasses of wine before going off upstairs to get ready for our 3 course dinner.

When we came downstairs for dinner, there was a pianist playing a piano, which was in one of the main rooms that had walls lined with stags heads and a huge fireplace.

We were seated in the restaurant, where the extremely professional, yet friendly staff served us a delicious meal. I’m so sad that I didn’t get any pictures of the dinner.

The following morning, we woke up early and went back down to the restaurant for breakfast, there was plenty of choice, both from a buffet or an a la carte menu, I of course chose the full English

After breakfast, we went for a stroll around the grounds

Now we had walked off our breakfast, it was time to be pampered. We were collected from reception by a golf cart, to be taken to the spa for our treatments. The spa and gym is a short 4 minute walk away in the stables.

In the afternoon, we headed back to the restaurant for afternoon tea, it was one of the most yummy afternoon teas I’ve ever had and it was really filling! We were offered more food if we wanted it but it was more than enough and of course, we added some bubbles to ours.

On Saturday night, we decided to eat in the Library room, which offers a bar menu so I opted for the burger, which was again delicious. This time I did take a picture.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Stapleford Park, we could not find any fault at all and are already talking about making it a yearly trip.
